The health concern: Severe liver injury linked to the pain and fever-reducing drug acetaminophen. The medication is used in a variety of prescription treatments, and according to the Food and Drug Administration, inadvertent overdose from prescription drugs containing acetaminophen accounts for nearly half of all acetaminophen-related liver failure in the U.S. — some of which results in the need for a liver transplant or death.
